Expiry is captured per batch at receiving, so the same item can sit in stock as three separate batches with three dates. The counter defaults to selling the earliest expiry first, and batches past their date are blocked from being sold rather than merely flagged. A near-expiry report runs on 30, 60 and 90-day windows so you can act while the supplier will still take a return.
