Marketplace Platforms

Online course marketplace development for tutors, schools and training providers

Learners who can always find their class, instructors who always know when they get paid, and a record of who actually finished.

Online course marketplace development usually starts with a catalogue and ends with a support problem: learners who paid but cannot find their class, tutors chasing a payout, and no record of who finished what.

Enrolment · live

An animated school portal: a new student enrols onto a Grade 7 roster, the one open period on the weekly class timetable is assigned a subject, her first quiz mark is posted, and her tuition payment clears.

Run enrolment, timetables, grades and tuition from one school portal.

Who it serves

01

The learner experience

Browse by subject, level, language and format, with a free preview lesson before anyone pays. Enrol, then resume exactly where the last session stopped — on a phone, because that is what most Philippine learners study on. Lessons download for offline viewing on a slow connection, progress is visible per module, and a completion record with a verification code is issued at the end. Receipts are downloadable, which matters when an employer is reimbursing the fee.

02

The instructor console

Build a course from modules, lessons, videos, PDFs, quizzes and assignments, with drip release if the material is meant to be taken in order. Schedule live sessions, set session packages and see the roster before class. Mark attendance, return graded assignments, and message a cohort without swapping numbers. The earnings screen shows units sold, refunds, revenue share already deducted and the exact date of the next payout.

03

Live tutoring, music lessons and language sessions

Sessions are booked against real availability, not a directory listing. Learners buy credits or a package of ten sessions and draw down against it, which is how tutoring and music lessons are actually sold here. Video runs through Zoom or Google Meet with the link issued per session, recordings attach to the booking where the instructor allows it, and reschedules and no-shows follow a published policy the platform enforces instead of your admin arguing about it.

04

The admin console: review, quality and refunds

Courses are reviewed before they publish — audio quality, module structure, whether the outline matches what is actually inside, and whether any claim about jobs or income is being made. Approve instructors with their credentials attached, restructure the category tree, feature courses on the homepage, decide refund requests against your published window, and suspend an instructor so their live bookings are cancelled and refunded rather than left hanging.

05

Payments Filipino learners can actually use

GCash and Maya through PayMongo, cards, over-the-counter for a parent paying at a bayad centre, and bank transfer with proof-of-payment upload. Instalments for the ₱25,000 programme, because the price is not the objection — the lump sum is. Scholarship codes and discount vouchers, and bulk enrolment for schools and companies: one purchase order, thirty seats assigned by email, invoice issued to the organisation.

06

Revenue share, payouts and refunds

Revenue share of 20-40% is the working range, and where you sit depends on how much of the enrolment you generated rather than the instructor's own audience. Lower the rate as an instructor's volume climbs, or offer a subscription with a reduced share. Payouts run to GCash, Maya or bank on a schedule with a stated threshold, and a refund granted inside your window revokes access and reverses the share in the same action rather than being clawed back later.

07

Books, kits and school supplies alongside the courses

Some learning is physical. Instructors and suppliers list workbooks, textbooks, art materials, instrument accessories, lab kits and school supplies, sold on their own or bundled with a course so one checkout covers the enrolment and the kit. Stock, variants and per-seller shipping rules work as they do in a product marketplace, with delivery booked to J&T Express or Lalamove. Course access opens immediately while the parcel ships separately with its own tracking.

₱199,000 on the Business package covers the learner site, instructor console, course builder, enrolment, payments, review workflow and payouts. Live tutoring with credit packages, certificate verification and corporate bulk enrolment are quoted on top after scoping. Video hosting is the one running cost worth planning for separately, since it scales with watch hours rather than with the number of courses you list.

Neither extreme works well. Unlisted YouTube is free but your paid course is one shared link from being public, and the player advertises other channels beside your lesson. Self-hosting from your own server gets expensive and buffers on provincial connections. We use a video host with signed, expiring playback links and adaptive quality, so the file is protected, the bandwidth is somebody else's problem, and a 3Mbps connection still plays.

Not completely, and any vendor telling you otherwise is selling. What works is friction plus economics. Access is tied to one account with a device limit and concurrent-stream detection, downloads are watermarked with the learner's name, and unusual patterns flag for review. On a marketplace the economics matter more than the technology, because it is the instructor's revenue share that shrinks when a course circulates — so put the enforcement policy in your instructor terms and show them the accounts you flagged, or they will assume nobody is looking and take their next course elsewhere.

Yes, and most successful Philippine platforms end up doing both. Self-paced courses sell volume with no instructor time; live sessions carry the higher price and the retention. They share the same accounts, catalogue, checkout and payout ledger, but differ in scheduling, attendance and refund rules. An instructor can sell a recorded course and offer paid one-on-one sessions on the same profile.

Between 20% and 40%, decided by who actually brought the learner. Take the lower end when an instructor sells to their own following and you are only providing the platform. Take the higher end when the enrolment came from your marketing and your search traffic. Dropping the rate as an instructor's volume grows keeps your best sellers from building their own checkout page and leaving.

Yes. An organisation buys a block of seats on a purchase order, gets an invoice with their TIN and business details, then assigns seats by email or uploads a list. The account holder sees progress and completion for their people without seeing anyone else's, and unassigned seats stay available until they expire. This is usually where the revenue is, and it is worth building before the consumer checkout is perfect.

Both, and settling it before launch saves an argument later. The record names the instructor who taught the course and your platform as the issuer, with a unique code resolving to a verification page on your domain that an employer can check. What it is not is accreditation. An independent instructor cannot borrow your platform to imply a CHED or TESDA credential, so the review step blocks any course page claiming one, and the certificate template stays yours to control rather than the instructor's to design.
