Eds Minimart: a grocery store that takes orders from the phone

A minimart's grocery catalogue on the phone — browse by category, tap to add, check out for delivery.

Eds Minimart sells its grocery catalogue through an app. The home screen carries a Search Products box and a banner announcing the store is now accepting orders, delivery only, above a Categories row.

The brief

A grocery order is not one decision, it is thirty small ones, and each needs a brand, a pack size and a price before the shopper commits to it. That is what this app puts on screen. Every listing carries the detail a grocery buyer actually compares on — Century Tuna Lite Flakes In Vegetable Oil, 6 pcs x 180 g, ₱338.40 — so a basket is priced while it is being built rather than totalled at a counter. Categories break a long shelf into sections that can be walked on a phone, the cart keeps a running total as quantities change, and the home banner states the terms of the service plainly: the store is accepting orders, delivery only.

What we built

  • Put the store's stock online as a browsable catalogue, with a Categories row on the home screen leading into sections such as Canned Goods rather than one undifferentiated product list.
  • Led every listing with brand, pack size and peso price, because a grocery basket is assembled against a budget and an unpriced item gets skipped.
  • Made adding to the basket a single tap on the tile, and saving an item for later a single tap on the heart beside it.
  • Built the cart to do the arithmetic — item count, running total and a minus-one-plus stepper on each line, straight through to Proceed to Checkout.
  • Kept banner space on the home screen for the store's own announcements, the loyalty sign-up and the free-delivery promo code.

Inside the platform

01

Search Products on the home screen

A search box sits above the banner on the home screen. A shopper who already knows the brand they want types it instead of walking the categories.

02

Category screens with Refine

A Categories row on the home screen leads into sections like Canned Goods, which carry a Refine control and a view toggle beside it, so a long shelf stays walkable on a phone.

03

Listings that carry pack size and price

Every item shows the brand, the pack size — 680 g, 12.5 oz, 6 pcs x 180 g — and the peso price, on the category tiles and in the Popular list alike. Grocery buyers compare by unit, so the listing answers before the tap.

04

One-tap add to cart

A plus button sits on the product image itself, and the cart badge in the header counts what has gone in. Adding an item never takes the shopper out of the aisle.

05

Wishlist on every item

A heart on each tile and on each Popular row, with a WishList tab in the bottom bar. Households buy the same things again, so a saved list is the shortcut to the next order.

06

Cart that counts, totals and adjusts

The cart shows the item count and the total in pesos, with a minus-one-plus stepper on each line, then Proceed to Checkout. The total moves as the basket does, before anyone commits.

Questions

About this project

Ask us about it

Yes. A priced catalogue with product categories, cart, checkout and a branded Android app is the Pro package at ₱149,000, live in about 10 working days. Listings and users are unlimited, so a shelf of two thousand items costs the same to run as a shelf of two hundred.

Through the admin panel and CMS that comes with every build. Prices, pack sizes, photos and stock status are edited in one place and change everywhere the item appears — category screen, search results, wishlist and cart. We include training and written documentation so your own staff make the changes, not us.

Yes. Promo codes applied at checkout and banner slots you control on the home screen are part of the storefront. A points-based loyalty programme is a module we add on top — that is our loyalty and rewards system, and it is worth scoping early because it changes how accounts and checkout behave.

No. Every VenderIT build includes online and offline payments, so a shopper can pay by card or e-wallet in the app, or pay the rider on the doorstep. Many Philippine groceries start with cash on delivery and move customers over gradually once they trust the app.

Not necessarily. The app takes the order, produces a picking list and shows the delivery address; who carries it is your decision. Some stores use their own riders, some book third-party couriers per order. If you want dispatch, assignment and tracking built in, that is the delivery management system.
